Winter has certainly
arrived! Along with it come some new routines and things to remember concerning clothing, both for indoors and
out. The biggest issue tends to be having sneakers or shoes to change into once they come inside and take off their
boots. Indoor shoes are necessary to keep from having sweaty feet. They are also safer for walking
on the stairs than boots.
Our classroom can
range in temperature from hot to cool during the same day, so sending your child in layers allows them to adjust to the temperature
changes during the day.
Appropriate outerwear is a must as
the students go outdoors for fifteen to twenty minutes daily unless it is raining or extremely cold. This not only allows
them to run off some of their energy, but they can connect with friends from different classes and get some much needed fresh
air. Hats, mittens, boots, coats and snowpants insure that your child will be comfortable as they enjoy their outdoor break.
As many children turn up with the same or similar outdoor clothing,
it is helpful to label your child's articles of clothing. This is also the time of year that you should regularly check
the lost and found bin in the cafeteria for your child's missing articles. It is amazing how much unclaimed clothing
accumulates during the winter.
Thanks for helping to keep your child
warm and happy. This prepares them for being able to concentrate and focus when they come back in to continue their
learning.
